The shipbuilding industry in Brazil

009.jpgNow established as a reference event for the Brazilian naval and offshore sectors, Navalshore goes on year after year, exceeding the expectations of its exhibitors and visitors. The 2009 edition of our Trade Fair will, yet again, bring innovations to the naval parts and components sector and its customers, giving further guarantees to a market that is already full steam ahead on a speedy phase of expansion, mainly due to recent oil field discoveries in ultra-deep waters.

004.jpgThe sixth edition will occur from the 19th to the 21st of August, 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, that beautiful city where most of the nation’s shipyards are concentrated, and where Petrobras, the main contractor for ships, offshore supply vessels and drilling platforms, carries out most of its activities.

Navalshore 2008 convened 130 exhibitors, representing 228 companies of various nationalities. In the previous year (2007), there was a total of 115 companies. Approximately 12,300 visitors attended the event compared to 11,600 registered the year before - a growth of 6%.

The SulAmérica Convention Center, where Navalshore is held, has six thousand square meters of exhibition space. It is the latest and most modern space for events in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Strategically located in downtown Rio, easily and speedily accessible from the Tom Jobim and Santos Dumont airports and with a Metro station close at hand, it has central air conditioning and a basement car park.
